Eggs can be an incredible “canvas” for artwork. In this class students will explore Ukrainian pysanky, Russian Faberge eggs, the origins of traditional Easter eggs and other egg art and create their own egg art to take home.

Learn various techniques and use traditional and nontraditional materials to weave intriguing textiles. Students will make their own looms using paper, cardboard or wooden frames and nails. It’s National Arbor Day! Let’s create art today that celebrates TREES! The tree is known to represent the sense of self in a lot of famous artworks. Klimt, Dr. Seuss and Van Gogh portrayed trees in very different ways. Now you can create your own tree whether it is fantastical or realistic.

Description

What happens when you glue and stack cards on top of one another until they are taller than you are? What about cups around into a sphere. Tara Donovan uses everyday objects to make interesting, organic sculptures. Artists will use recycled materials to create orbs and towers in patterned and geometric ways.

In this Toddler & me class, we’ll utilize your young one’s budding curiosity to explore a variety of visual art materials in a safe and supportive environment. Each class will focus on baby appropriate art materials and processes, all while helping your young one develop his or her fine motor skills. Each class will consist of 45 minutes of structured activities.

Description

Each week, the instructor will give a short demo on different watercolor techniques at the beginning of class. Students will paint at least one painting each week with individualized instruction. Class will focus on different concepts including value, color theory and composition. Additionally, class will explore other themes such as complementary color schemes, gradated washes, combining collage and watercolor, texture and atmospheric perspective. All materials will be supplied for our students. However, students can bring their own supplies if desired.

Description

The term monoprint comes from the idea that no two prints will be the same. We will use this technique to understand exactly what monoprinting means and the products it can produce. How close can your prints get to being the same? We will learn about monoprint styles of Matisse, Jane Cooper and Degas. How different can prints be from the same tile? Let’s find out in this print focused art class!

Unconventional painting is one of our favorite types of painting here at The Art Garage! It allows the artist to get past the frustrations of the technical and gives them the ability to let loose! We will use toothbrushes, kitchen utensils and whatever we want BUT no paintbrushes are allowed!
