Description

Artists will celebrate the spooky season by creating their own personal monsters and imaginary creatures! Students will draw, paint or sculpt their monsters into creation and incorporate storytelling to bring their monsters to life!

Description

Curious about self portraiture? You’re not alone! There is a fine tradition of artists depicting themselves in their own artwork - and we’re going to examine them! Then we will create our own, original works of art in the styles of these famous masters using drawing, painting and mixed media.

Description

Join us as we design and construct our very own scarecrow and pumpkin patch characters out of art materials! Projects will be adapted so that they are age appropriate, and will explore a variety of media and subject matter including scarecrow, pumpkins, crows and more! Artists will explore mixed media, found object and recycled materials, while older artists will work in clay. Lesson is adapted for each age group.

Description

In this class we’ll take inspiration from traditional fall treats. Foodie artists like Claes Oldenberg, Wayne Thiebaud, and Luigi Benedicenti will be introduced. We’ll then create works featuring caramel apples, pumpkins, and candy - oh my! Lessons will be adapted so that they are age appropriate as well as delicious. Real food will not be used in this class.

The golden leaves of Aspen trees set against a backdrop of blue Colorado sky? Doesn’t get much more awe inspiring than that! Join us as we create artworks that reflect the changing season right outside our window. Paint, pastel, or even collage will be some of the media we may explore in order to create our masterpieces.

Description

Masks have been used throughout history to disguise, entertain, for performances and storytelling! In this class, students will use a range of art materials to create unique masks of their own. Lessons are adapted appropriately for each age group as instructors create projects to challenge and excite everyone. For younger artists, time will be allotted for structured pretend play with the completed masks.

It seems all those creatures that come out in the day get all the attention. Learn about those night time animals as the class chooses one to bring to life through color, line and textures while learning drawing and painting techniques.

Description

Students will learn about the art, symbolism and history of this Mexican holiday. Students will use paints, drawing materials and 3D materials to create their own Day of the Dead inspired artworks. Lessons will be adapted appropriately for each age group.

Description

Each week, the instructor will give a short demo on different watercolor techniques at the beginning of class. Students will paint at least one painting each week with individualized instruction. Class will focus on different concepts including value, color theory and composition. Additionally, class will explore other themes such as complementary color schemes, gradated washes, combining collage and watercolor, texture and atmospheric perspective.

Description

Explore the colorful quirky world of Pete Cromer’s birds! Student will create their own bird personalities in the style of Cromer, using bold colors, geometric shapes and collage techniques. Students will learn about patterning, positive and negative space and juxtapostion of shapes to create whimsical birds with tons of character.

Description

In this class we will look at artworks composed of perhaps the simplest element of design - the dot. We will derive inspiration from artist Roy Lichtenstein, Australian Aboriginal dot paintings, and the work of the Pointillists. Lessons will be adapted so that they are age appropriate as well as meaningful.
