Younger students will create mixed media gratitude flags while older students create a collage, mixed media vision board! By using a variety of artmaking methods, artists will make beautiful skylines and sunsets! Younger artists will develop fine motor skills as they cut and paste silhouettes while older students will make slightly more complex drawings and paintings and learn about perspective and architecture. Lessons are adapted appropriately for each age group as they explore shape, color, and design.

Description

Feeling mooooved to make some art? Then you’ll love this class which will focus on bovine inspired art making. We’ll look to artists who’ve immortalized the cow like Banksy, Franz Marc and Warhol and then create our own cow compositions using drawing and painting materials. Lesson will be adapted to each age group.

Students will enter the colorful and ornate world of Beatriz Milhazes, an artist from Brazil who creates stunning compositions with geometric elements and circular motifs. Students will create their own artwork in her style but with their own artistic touch. Students will use drawing and painting materials, and lessons are adapted for each age group.

Description

There is so much we can learn from one another! In this class, students will work with fellow artists to create collaborative pieces! We will look at famous murals, mosaics, and partnerships such as Walt Disney with Salvador Dali. Artists may create collaborative murals that will be kept at The Art Garage as well as individual works to bring home and enjoy, including mandala hugs and exquisite corpse artworks. Students will work in drawing, painting, collage and mixed media.

Description

Be it a bedroom in Arles painted by Van Gogh or Mount Fuji captured by Hokusai, there is a long tradition of artists finding inspiration from the environments around them. In this class we will derive inspiration from the places we spend time in every day, including our beloved Denver, our homes and even The Art Garage! Artists will use drawing, painting and collage. Lessons are adapted to be age appropriate.

Description

Join us as we turn trash into treasures and use recycled materials to create art! Creations will range from animal sculptures to musical instruments, and anything in between. Ages 6-12 will gain practice in constructing 3-dimensionally utilizing a glue gun (with supervision!) and ages 3-5 will experiment with creating miniature 2-D sculptures using age appropriate materials.

In this class we will use a traditionally 2-dimensional medium and transform it into something sculptural! Join us as we rip, fold, paste, weave and restructure paper into interesting sculptural creations, both abstract and representational. Young artists will enhance fine motor skills while older artists will gain an understanding of construction techniques as they create one-of-a-kind sculptures. Lessons will be adapted so that they are age appropriate.

Did you know that every culture, even as far back as the prehistoric age, has engaged in some form of art making? People make art for many reasons, to express emotions, to record a moment in time, to make a statement about something they care about, and just for the plain fun of it! There is something about the human experience that demands we make art! In this class we will look at art from a variety of cultures, before making some works of our own. Artists may work in either 2D or 3D materials depending upon the age group.

Sometimes art can be about humor too! In this class, students will create bizarre new species of animals from combining two very different ones. What do you get when you cross a turtle and a tarantula or a monkey and a macaw? Come to this class to find out! Lesson adapted to each age group. Young artists will work in drawing and painting while older artist will explore ceramics.
