Description

Description

In this class, young artists will delve into various art movements, styles and media. They will learn about many artists like Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, Henri Matisse, Hannah Hoch and more, who dared to be different and explore past the boundaries of what was considered “acceptable art” at various times in history. Students in this class will use these artists as inspiration for their own artwork paying attention to their individual intuition creating pieces as unique as they are. Classes will be held a Park Hill Elementary.

Description

Students will create artworks in the style of Cubism through collage, acrylic paint and oil pastels on canvas. Cubism is one of the most influential visual art styles of the early twentieth century. Students will develop composition skills and a different approach to representing reality as they gain an understanding of combining simple geometric shapes, interlocking planes, contrasting vantage points and monochromatic color. Join us in creating wonderful mixed media masterpieces. Classes will be held at Park Hill Elementary.

Description

From cave paintings to contemporary masterpieces, young artists will learn about how art changed through the ages. We will explore various painting styles and techniques and talk about why people made the paintings that they did while imitating them and making paintings of our own. Just a few of the styles and artists we will discuss and imitate include abstract expressionism such as Kandinsky and Rothko, impressionism, surrealism such as Dali and Max Ernst, Ink wash paintings from East Asia, Islamic Calligraphy, and many more! Classes will be held at Park Hill Elementary.

Description

In this class students will learn about Piet Mondrian and other members of the Dutch De Stijl movement. Students will create polished abstract artwork using horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines, squares and rectangles, and black, white and primary colors. Lessons will be adapted appropriately for each age group.

We are here to help guide these assignments and give technical and constructive lessons and feedback to help aid your student’s application process. We will focus on creativity, observational skill and structured art elements and how to apply these to your student’s individual style. Still life, portfolio construction and passion for art will be heavily discussed and studied. This would be a great opportunity for students inquiring about enrollment at Denver School of the Arts or other visual arts schools.

Our adult ceramic class will meet every Monday evening. This course is great for any beginner, intermediate, or advanced student. Hand building and wheel throwing instructions will be taught by our skilled instructor as students develop and grow their ceramic techniques. Instructor - Kylle Been **Material fee not included. $13 due at time of class for clay. Additional clay cost - $13/25lbs

Our artists will study how buildings are constructed, the inspiration behind them and the details within. Artists will be able to draw their own structures, study well known buildings and build junk art three dimensional towers. We will look into well known architects and study what inspired them in order to create our own monumental pieces of art!

This club will be filled with fun facts to guide our creative process. As our artists learn about what has been discovered in space, they will integrate their knowledge into art making using their cosmic creativity! We’ll also derive inspiration from black holes, the milky way, asteroids, moons, stars, and the sun, while utilizing a variety of media in order to bring our 2D and 3D artworks to life! We will focus on fine motor skills, artistic techniques and application.

Let’s start by getting back down to the basics in this painting class! We will explore many general painting techniques, color theory, guided drawing and line drawing. Then we will build from what we’ve learned and apply it to printmaking, matchbox shadow boxes, multi media collage work and handmade gifts. Artists will be able to learn the application of techniques in this mixed media painting club!

Description

Here at The Art Garage we believe that it’s never too early to introduce your child to art! In this Toddler & me class, we’ll utilize your young one’s budding curiosity to explore a variety of visual art materials in a safe and supportive environment. Each class will focus on baby appropriate art materials and processes, all while helping your young one develop his or her fine motor skills. Each class will consist of 45 minutes of structured activities with an optional 15 minute socialization time with the instructor - a perfect time to ask questions and learn how you can help foster your child’s innate creativity at home! Toddlers ages 1-2.5 year olds are welcome with their caregiver.

Description

In this toddler and me class, we’ll focus on exploring a variety of art materials and methods in order to develop your child’s appreciation for art as well as their fine motor skills. Each class will begin with storytime and an art related project based off of the story, followed by an optional parental debrief towards the end of class - the perfect time to socialize with other grownups and their young ones, as well as discuss with the instructor how to help foster your child’s creativity at home! Session 2: October 4th-25th. Toddlers ages 1-2 years old are welcome with their caregiver.
