Visual Art Portfolio Prep
Mondays, October 1 - November 12

Does your student need help working towards an art portfolio or visual art audition? We are here to help guide these assignments and give technical and constructive lessons and feedback to help aid your student’s application process. We will focus on creativity, observational skill and structured art elements and how to apply these to your student’s individual style. Still life, portfolio construction and passion for art will be heavily discussed and studied. This would be a great opportunity for students inquiring about enrollment at Denver School of the Arts or other visual arts schools. REGISTER HERE!
Drawing Club: Architech-tour!
Tuesdays, October 3 - November 14
4:30pm - 6:30pm
Our artists will study how buildings are constructed, the inspiration behind them and the details within. Artists will be able to draw their own structures, study well known buildings and build junk art three dimensional towers. We will look into well known architects and study what inspired them in order to create our own monumental pieces of art! REGISTER HERE!
Painting Club: Painting 101
Wednesdays, October 3 - November 14

Let’s start by getting back down to the basics in this painting class! We will explore many general painting techniques, color theory, guided drawing and line drawing. Then we will build from what we’ve learned and apply it to printmaking, matchbox shadow boxes, multi media collage work and handmade gifts. Artists will be able to learn the application of techniques in this mixed media painting club! REGISTER HERE!
What a Relief Printmaking Club
Thursdays, October 4 - November 15
5pm - 7pm
We will cut, etch and carve into surfaces to make our own printmaking plates. Artists will learn how to use the negative of an original block to depict shapes and forms within their prints. We will learn transfer techniques such as tiling, collagraph and drypoint etching. Join us for this special class where we will even use our own printing press! REGISTER HERE!
Mixed Media Club: Landscapes of the Deathly Hallows
Mondays, October 3 - December 17 (3 classes)
4:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Students will create multi-media landscapes of imaginary place each week inspired by places, people and events form the Harry Potter book series. Each week the teacher will share a description from one of the Harry Potter books to provide inspiration. Students will learn monoprinting with acrylics, collage and drawing techniques they will use to create their own imaginary artworks. REGISTER HERE!
Dyeing Club: Natural Fabric Dyeing
Dates: Tuesdays, December 4 - December 18
Time: 4:30 pm- 6:30 pm
In this class we will venture into the world of natural dying. Artists will use vegetables, fruits, and other earthy substances to dye muslin and other fabrics. We will tie, twist and learn all different types of resist and color gradient techniques to make our own naturally dyed fabric. REGISTER HERE!
Thursdays, December 6 - December 20

In this class we will explore and honor what makes us unique by way of creating Identity Assemblages. We will draw inspiration from the self portrait miniatures of Frida Kahlo as well as the assemblage techniques of Louise Nevelson to create “altar” style artworks with an emphasis on the ornate and expressive.
