Mixed Media Club: Landscapes of the Deathly Hallows

Mondays, October 3 - December 17 (3 classes)

4:30  pm - 6:30 pm

Ages 9-13


Students will create multi-media landscapes of imaginary place each week inspired by places, people and events form the Harry Potter book series. Each week the teacher will share a description from one of the Harry Potter books to provide inspiration. Students will learn monoprinting with acrylics, collage and drawing techniques they will use to create their own imaginary artworks. REGISTER HERE!

Dyeing Club: Natural Fabric Dyeing

Dates: Tuesdays, December 4 - December 18

Time: 4:30 pm- 6:30 pm

Ages 9-14


In this class we will venture into the world of natural dying. Artists will use vegetables, fruits, and other earthy substances to dye muslin and other fabrics. We will tie, twist and learn all different types of resist and color gradient techniques to make our own naturally dyed fabric. REGISTER HERE! 

Identity Assemblages

Thursdays, December 6 - December 20

In this class we will explore and honor what makes us unique by way of creating Identity Assemblages. We will draw inspiration from the self portrait miniatures of Frida Kahlo as well as the assemblage techniques of Louise Nevelson to create “altar” style artworks with an emphasis on the ornate and expressive. Visual Art Portfolio Prep: Creative Prompt Workshop

Tuesdays, January 8th - January 29th

This class is a follow up to our fall and winter Visual Art Portfolio classes. This 4 week session will focus on drawing from a creative prompt and students will study the ideas behind thinking beyond lateral or literal meanings. We will discuss creative thought processes and how to translate them into interesting and expressive artwork. Each week will hold a different and insightful prompt to help practice intuitive drawing. Abstract Sculptural Ceramics

Mondays, January 14th - February 25th

In this club we will look at various abstract ceramic artists like Ron Nagle, Betty Woodman, and Kenneth Price for inspiration for our own ceramic creations.  We will delve into ideas and concepts revolving around how to express oneself using form, color, and texture while learning hand-building and glazing techniques. Journaling Club: Recycled Book Journals

Wednesdays, January 16th - February 27th

4:30pm - 6:30pm

Ages: 9-12


In this journaling club artists will design their own journal covers and explore the pages within them! The pages we will be filled with poetry, drawings and whatever else inspires you! We will recycle old books by gessoing the pages and starting fresh! Any and all materials will be available to help you explore the pages of your new recycled journal! REGISTER HERE!

Teen/Tween Club: Self Portrait Collage

Thursdays, January 17th - February 28th

5pm - 7pm

Ages: 11-18


This class is taking the self portrait to the next level. Many practicing artists shy away from drawing the human body, but not at The Art Garage! Students will not only study the features of the face but they will explore shading, contour and dimensions of the face through collage as well. This is a great, opportunity for an tween/teen artist to continue to investigate their passion and skills in art. REGISTER HERE!
