Paint Draw Hoopla!

Let’s start by getting back down to the basics in this drawing and painting class! We will explore many general painting techniques, color theory, guided drawing and line drawing. Then we will build from what we’ve learned and apply it to multi media collage work, color theory paint pouring, scraping and layering. Artists will be able to learn many drawing and painting application techniques in this mixed media painting class!

Open Up to Op Art

Learn about the Op Art movement and the artists that caught the art world’s eye. We will practice drawing techniques that trick the eye, learn about color theory, and create our own color wheels all while planning our final compositions. Students will finish this class with a mind-bending final piece that showcases their Op Art skills and will make you dizzy!

Botanical Art: Virtual Class

Making Waves in Art

In this class, students will travel to Japan to learn about the artistic styles, traditions and works of art that originated there! We’ll surf Hokusai’s Great Wave, create colorful koi fish, and fold origami cranes! We’ll also learn about the delicate and transient cherry blossom tree and make paper lanterns.

Teen Skills Workshop

In this class, we will begin by diving into drawing , sharpening our skills, and developing our technique. The first week, we will discuss what type of artistic practices we are most excited about and spend the next three weeks working with techniques and media that we decide on as a group. Papermaking and Pulp Sculptures

Where does paper come from? How is it made? How can we make beautiful, handmade paper out of scraps that would normally be tossed aside? Find the answers and be part of the creative process in this week-long class! Not only will you make your own paper and embed your own special gems, you will also learn about the NYC based artistic duo Chiaozza and draw plans for our paper pulp sculptures!

A World of Color

Stained glass windows illuminate our worlds with a kaleidoscope of color! During this week we will explore four unique and nontraditional ways to create a “stained glass” effect using safe and fun techniques!
