Our Values
**Equity Statement:**
At The Art Garage, we believe everyone is an artist. With a commitment to equity, we strive to ensure accessibility to the arts and to amplify voices that have been systematically excluded. We work to enrich our community by providing space for individuals to be their most authentic, creative selves.

**Commitment to Environmental Sustainability:**
As a part of The Art Garage’s [Mission](https://artgaragedenver.com/articles/299) to ensure the artistic process is fully accessible and inclusive, we commit ourselves to protecting resources and opportunities for future generations of artists by ensuring that process is also environmentally sustainable. We believe it is our responsibility to model ecological stewardship in the arts for our students and community and we commit to reducing our carbon footprint in the following ways:
**Recycle:** Beyond participating in recycling collection programs and ensuring responsible recycling of electronics and other hard-to-recycle items, The Art Garage also takes material donations from the community, including everything from 3D printers to construction paper! These donations make up a significant portion of the art supplies used in our studio which creates bonds with our community, keeps items out of the landfill, and reduces the need to buy and ship new materials. Do you have art materials to donate? [Learn more here!](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSccXmS3mq52r5TFD-clBPqufK2mAEmfHetDq2fnVFK7WOrZHw/viewform)
**Reuse:** Our studio motto is that nothing is trash! Our staff and volunteers go the extra mile to reduce our waste by using old markers to make liquid watercolor, saving empty toilet paper tubes for art projects, gessoing and reusing old canvases for instructor examples, and so much more. You know that free-draw art that your little artist left behind last week? We even save that to collage unique thank you cards for our community members!
**Reduce:** In 2026, The Art Garage conducted an Energy Audit in order to further minimize our energy usage. This audit goes hand in hand with existing procedures that intentionally reduce water and power usage and limit materials like acrylic paints, oil paints, and ceramics going down drains. Our goal in the next decade is to continue to reduce our carbon footprint by locally sourcing more of our purchased art materials and minimizing shipping.
