Knot, Loop, Weave

Textile art can incorporate plant, animal or synthetic fibers. Lets' knot, loop and weave to create beautiful fiber artwork this summer! Students will learn weaving, create their own tube knitter from cardboard tubes, make layered fabric landscapes, unique wall hangings, and one large textile collaborative piece that will stay at The Art Garage for years to come!

Falling Through Tunnel Books

Tunnel books have been around for quite some time however not many people know what they are... but not for long! Artists will learn how to build an accordion tunnel book that tells a story or sends an important message to it's reader. Meet Mr. Roy G. Biv/Art of Ancient Egypt

This week, we’ll travel back in time to explore what it was like to live like an ancient Egyptian by the pyramids at Giza! Students will excavate fun facts about Egyptian art and culture through the creation of mixed media Egyptian artwork. Giant Masks

Our inspiration this week will be from the mask making artists Kimmy Cantrell, Pablo Picasso and Sandra Silberzweig. First, students will choose an animal and use reference photos to inspire aspects of their mask creations. They will plan, design and create their masks with cardboard, mixed media textures and paint. What an Art Mess!

Students will engage with art materials in an experiential and mindful way in this process painting class, which emphasizes the creative process over product. They will use unconventional materials to paint with such as string, bubble wrap, sponges and more and learn new methods like drip, splatter and resist techniques to create their paintings. Be sure you wear your very art friendly clothes for this class!

Funky Tea

Tea time! Even if tea is not your thing, creating these one of a kind tea sets will be a most memorable experience! Participants will look at the American ceramicist Richard Notkin and others for inspiration to create their own unique and funky teapot design. Will your teapot be inspired be a tree, an animal, a building perhaps? Whatever your imagination works up our instructor will work together with you to bring your vision to life!
