Safari Adventures

Grab your binoculars - we're heading on a creative journey through sub-Saharan Africa! Young artists will learn about the natural habitats and behaviors of African animals like lions, giraffes, elephants, hyenas, and hippos while exploring 2D and 3D materials, learning drawing basics and ceramic handbuilding techniques, trying out oil pastels and watercolor, and so much more.

Around the World in Five Days

Get your passports ready - we're taking an artistic expedition around the world! Each day, students will learn about an artist, art style, or art movement from a different continent and try their hands at projects inspired by global greats. We'll explore new mediums and techniques, learn about the histories and cultures behind the artwork we study, and come home with a wealth of worldly knowledge.

Won't You Be My Neighbor?

This week our young artists will be inspired by the great Fred Rogers! We'll explore themes of friendship, kindness and honesty all while experiencing process-based art to create our very own "Neighborhood of Make Believe" and a puppet community to inhabit it! Along the way campers will create art inspired by the "Neighborhood Trolley" while learning about our neighborhood helpers.

City Art-chitect

Would your city have flying cars or gondola boats? Skyscrapers or hobbit houses? This week, you'll get to be the architect of your very own metropolis! Students will explore mixed media techniques and construction with recycled materials as they imagine, plan, design, and bring to life their very own cities. From the buildings and streets to the cars and parks, our detailed artistic cities will bring out the art-chitect in all of us.

Loony For Landscapes

From sunset vistas to a Park Hill cityscape, we're going loony for landscapes this week! Students will discuss the work of famous realist and surrealist landscape artists as they design landscapes from their imaginations and learn techniques to capture real-life scenery with style and accuracy using a variety of media like oil pastels, watercolor, and acrylic.

What's Cooking?

This class is a recipe for fun! Come hungry for culinary creativity this week as young artists use food to create incredible artworks and create artworks that look like food! This goes beyond macaroni picture frames - we'll use fruits and veggies to learn about patterns and printmaking and make our own versions of famous artworks inspired by food that will have your tummy rumbling.

It's a Piece of Cake

Your art won't be edible, but your inspiration will be! Artists like Wayne Thiebaud, Claes Oldenburg, and Andy Warhol will be our guides this week as we create artwork inspired by our favorite foods. From pop art to realistic sculpture, students will explore a wide variety of artistic styles and materials as they create tasty treats for the eyes and mix the culinary and visual arts.

Colorful Ceramics

Tired of plain old glaze? In this class, students will learn new techniques to apply decorative colors, patterns, and textures to their ceramic pieces using color applications with clay slip, sgraffito techniques, and more. The instructor will guide students through a variety of ceramic projects that will advance their ceramic handbuilding skills and give them new tools to express themselves in clay.

How Does Your Garden Grow?

There is so much to explore inside a garden! This week your little gardener will create ceramic garden stakes, experiment with collage to capture the beauty of flowers and create their very own pollinators. Young artists will experiment with 2D, 3D and mixed media art techniques as we capture the enchantment of a garden.

Flower Power

Explore the true beauty of a garden with botanical illustrations! Campers will study plants native to Colorado (including the ones growing here at the Art Garage!) while learning about the stages of plant growth and the structure of plants. We will then apply our botanical observations to drawing and painting a variety of plants while learning new artistic techniques. A Bug's Life

Butterflies and beetles, cockroaches and cicadas - this week is all about bugs! Students will explore a wide variety of materials and techniques as they learn all about the fascinating world of insects. From slithering and slimy to iridescent and elegant, bugs will inspire our artwork this week! We will take a closer look at our miniscule friends and give them a glittery makeover using 2D and 3D materials. Students will read about bugs, listen to bug-inspired music, and bug-out over the variety of adaptations, colors, and textures that the insect world has to offer.

Paint Your Pet

Unleash your imagination to create a portrait of your favorite furry, scaly or feathered family member! Cardboard Creations

This week will give a whole new meaning to "Not a box!" We'll take upcycling to the next level as we create a variety of fun and unique artwork with this environmentally friendly medium. Students will explore ways to use plain old cardboard to take classic art into the 3rd dimension, create sculpture, make wall decor, and even create wearable art!

Wearable Art

Your outfit will be your art gallery in this wearable art camp! Students will experiment with painting on fabric, using printmaking to transfer designs, adding embellishment with embroidery, and methods of fabric dyeing as they learn how to update their wardrobes with artistic flair.

4th of July Parade Camp: Feelin' Groovy

Students in this camp will make artworks that will be incorporated in The Art Garage’s 4th of July Parade procession and will be invited to participate in the parade! We’re looking for fun and feeling groovy as we create art inspired by the 1960s! From peace signs to flower power, we’ll be exploring the signs, symbols and crafts of the hippie movement while experimenting with paint, oil pastels, and recycled materials.

4th of July Parade Camp: Far Out Art

Students in this camp will make artworks that will be incorporated in The Art Garage’s 4th of July Parade procession and will be invited to participate in the parade! It’s a kaleidoscope of colors in this Hippie inspired art class! We’ll be looking at motifs of the 1960’s, from flower power to paisley and creating art, accessories and instruments we can carry during the Park Hill 4th of July Parade!

4th of July Parade Camp: Peace Love and Parades

Students in this camp will make artworks that will be incorporated in The Art Garage’s 4th of July Parade procession and will be invited to participate in the parade! It’s the age of Aquarius in this camp as we travel back to the time of VW Buses, headbands and tie-die. Artists will experiment with a variety of media as they create 1960’s inspired take-home masterpieces as well as costumes and displays for The Park Hill 4th of July Parade.

Muppets and Marionettes

From Kermit to Pinocchio, puppets have always been pop culture superstars! Students will take inspiration from a variety of famous puppets and puppeteers and learn about different types of puppet construction as they design and build their very own moveable creatures. Artists will work together to create a collaborative puppet show that will dazzle both campers and parents on the last day of class.
