Description

There are many different types of Japanese tea ceremony bowls such as the matcha bowl and Chawan tea bowl that are still used in tradition today. This class will begin with each student making their very own tea bowl designed in Japanese tradition. Students will study the different ceramic pieces that are included in tea ceremonies and choose the ones that they would like to replicate with their own flare. We will study traditional and modern Japanese ceramic textures, patterns and construction, including kintsugi, to emulate the sacred tea ceremony wares in our own style! Students will also make their very own ceramic Shigaraki cat (or Lucky Cat) to bring each artist good luck.

*Please note: We have a no refund policy. Be sure to visit our SUMMER FAQ page for up to date information. If you are interested in financial assistance, apply for a Scholarship and wait for a response from our scholarship committee prior to registering here.
