**2024 Summer Camp and Lottery FAQ**
**UPDATE (1/15/24): The Art Garage's 2024 Summer Camp Lottery has now ended! Any remaining or re-opened spots are open to public registration **[**HERE**](https://artgaragedenver.com/courses?categories=7)**. You can also add yourself to digital waitlists for full camps at that link.** With over 2000 entries into the lottery this year and approximately 600 available summer camp spots, we are not able to accommodate all families, though we wish we could!
**To join waitlists:**
1. Be sure that you are signed into your Art Garage account
2. Use the "Classes" drop-down at the top of the page to navigate to "Summer Camps"
3. Click the "Alert Me" button below any full classes you are interested in registering for
4. That's it! You have been added to a list of parents that will receive an email notification (from [noreply@artgaragedenver.com](mailto:noreply@artgaragedenver.com)) when space opens in class
5. All parents on the list will be notified _simultaneously_ when spots become available - there are no positions on the list. Your notification will contain a link to the class and registrations will be first-come, first-served through the website.
**Summer Camp Format**
The Art Garage’s unique visual art summer camps each explore an artistic theme, style, or medium and are led by skilled working artists and art facilitators. Young artists of all skill levels will explore a wide variety of art materials, learn new techniques, and build their confidence through getting messy and exercising their creative muscles!
**On-Site Summer Camps** at The Art Garage are one-week long, Mondays through Fridays (the week of 4th of July is three days, Monday to Wednesday). 2024 Summer Camps will begin on June 10th and end on August 16th. The Art Garage hosts six camps per week: three in the morning (9AM-12PM) and three in the afternoon (1PM-4PM). Each camp is for a specific age group, and a student must be in the correct age group for the camp.
The Art Garage's **Off-Site Summer Camps** generally run Mondays-Thursdays for a full day (8:30am-3:30pm) and this year grant-funded camps will include optional Extended Day programming with [Soccer Electric](https://www.soccerelectric.com/) from 3:30pm-5:00pm. Camps are planned to run the weeks of June 24th, July 1st (3-day week: Monday-Wednesday), July 8th, and July 22nd. Registration for these camps will be via open-enrollment (not though the lottery) in Spring 2024. _Please keep in mind that Grant Funded camps are intended for families that face financial and/or transportation barriers to on-site Summer Camps and are designed to provide opportunities to families that may not otherwise be able to attend Summer Camps._

With snack time, movement breaks, and some projects taking place outdoors, it is also important that students wear or bring weather appropriate clothing and sun protection to class.

**If my child is 3 years old, can they attend classes for the full day 9am-4pm?**
3-year-old students may attend our morning classes (9am-12pm). We have found the afternoon class or full day has proven to be uniquely challenging for a three year old artist. In order to provide the highest quality of programming, we are only offering half day classes for our three year old students.
**I have children in different age groups. Can we combine them into the same class?**
In order to best meet the needs of each student, we would like to keep artists in their specified age groups. If your child is not registered for the appropriate age group you risk losing your registration for that class. If you have concerns about this, please contact Art Garage at 303-377-2353.
**If my child is (5 or 8) can they join the next age group up (6-8 or 9-12 yr olds)?**
Students must be signed up for the correct age group. As our classes are combined ages, we want to ensure that our instructors are meeting the needs and challenging the participants in age appropriate ways. Therefore, it is important to register your child for the correct age group.
**How many students will be in my class?**
Class size varies depending on the age of students, class topic and studio. Classes range in size between 6-15 students per class.
**Does my child need to attend summer classes for the entire week?**
We strongly encourage your child to attend the full week of our summer classes to get the full experience and to ensure that the students finish their projects. Many projects will take place over multiple days and students will often collaborate and work together, so a participant missing part of camp affects the experience of all students.
**Can you pro-rate a week long summer class if my child can not attend the full week?**
No.

Yes, carpooling is not an issue for pick up and drop off. Please let the office know if your student/s will be going home with another family.
**Is student work ever displayed during camp?**
We encourage our instructors to have a Friday Reflection time. This will consist of a teacher’s choice “roundtable” type discussion about the student’s artwork, experience that week, or an art show. If the instructor does hold an art show all parents will be notified and can join at the end of class on Friday.
